Canada
Mortgage and Housing Corporation - Urban forestry refers to
post-development planting or pre-development preservation of trees, shrubs and
other ground covers in an urban context. This lot-level BMP is a functional and
attractive supplement to residential lawns and has positive implications for
property values particularly once trees and shrubs mature.
Canadian
Urban Forest Network - As an advocacy group for Canadian Urban Forestry,
our mission is to increase awareness of the urgent issues facing Canada's urban
forests and to stimulate action to address those issues.
Center for Urban Forest
Research - Pacific Southwest Research Station, US Department of Agriculture
(Forest Service). Our VISION is sustainable communities that are better off
today than yesterday. We hope to see communities have an increased
understanding and appreciation of the urban forest and choose to make an
investment in the care and maintenance of community trees to ensure continued
health of the urban forest.
Eastern Ontario Urban Forest
Network - The urban forest is made up of all trees clustered and scattered
within an urban area. It includes the trees in parks, along streets, natural
areas, and even trees in the yard of a residential property. Each of these
trees has an important role in the urban landscape of eastern Ontario by
providing aesthetic, social, community, economic, and environmental benefits.
ESRI Canada: Urban
Forestry - Urban expansions have resulted in significant reductions in tree
cover in cities. GIS provides the ability to assess and monitor environmental
changes to assist planners and managers to better understand the impact of land
use. Planners can use GIS to manage their urban forestry efforts including
Fleming
College: Urban Forestry - This program focuses on the "non-climbing"
aspects of urban forestry and landscape care. You can help make our cities a
better place to be after completing Fleming's new Urban Forestry Certificate.
Trees clean the air and provide much needed "green" relief from the concrete
jungle in our towns and cities.

International Society of
Arboriculture is a worldwide professional organization dedicated to
fostering a greater appreciation for trees and to promoting research,
technology, and the professional practice of arboriculture.
- The
Ontario Chapter of ISA has
now grown to over 500 members, while the international membership is now almost
18,000, divided into 37 chapters worldwide the world's largest such
organization.
LEAF Local Enhancement &
Appreciation of Forests - LEAF is an incorporated, not-for-profit
organization dedicated to the protection and improvement of Toronto\'s urban
forest. We offer several programs and services for Toronto residents: Backyard
Tree Planting Program, Workshops/Training, Community Events, Tree Festival and
Tree Tours.
Oakville's UFORE (Urban
Forest Effects Model) Report is Now Available. The Urban Forest Effects
Model (UFORE), designed by the United States Department of Agriculture, Forest
Service, has been used to quantify urban forest structure and numerous urban
forest effects in cities worldwide. To learn more about Oakville's UFORE

Oakvillegreen is a
non-profit, non-partisan organization working to ensure that Oakville is a
beautiful and healthy place to live. We create and encourage initiatives and
cooperate with other organizations to safeguard and improve the environment
within our community for now and for future generations.
Ontario Urban Forest Council is a non-profit
group that works to advance the conservation and maintenance of urban forests
across Ontario. We also provide technical support for groups addressing urban
forestry issues and offer various workshops on a wide range of
topics.
The
Ottawa Forests and Greenspace
Advisory Committee was established in the fall of 2001 to advise Ottawa
City Council and provide a forum for citizens on issues related to trees and
forests.
ReForest London - encourages
community groups, businesses, and individuals to plant trees and shrubs in
their neighbourhoods. We provide expertise, coordination and funding for
eligible community groups. You choose planting locations and tree species,
raise funds, and purchase trees. ReForest London also helps you find other
individuals, groups and businesses in your neighbourhood to partner with to
make your project even more successful.
Tree Canada Foundation is a not-for-profit,
charitable organization established in 1992. The Foundation provides education,
technical assistance, resources and financial support through working
partnerships to encourage Canadians to plant and care for trees in an effort to
help reduce the harmful effects of carbon dioxide emissions. The foundation is
a leader in promoting the value of urban forests in Canada.
Tree City Canada Association began in 2005
as an urban greening group helping people improve their own neighbourhoods
through trees.
The Urban Forest Stewardship
Initiative (UFSI) is a partnership of individuals, organizations and
governments dedicated to the conservation, restoration, and sustainable use of
the Victoria BC's urban forest.
