College of the North Atlantic - Forest Resources Technician: We are Newfoundland and Labrador’s public college – one of the largest post-secondary educational and skills training centres in Atlantic Canada, with a history dating back more than 40.

College of New Caledonia Forest Resource Technology - CNC’s two-year Forest Resource Technology Program educates participants in the theory and practice of forest management at the College’s Prince George campus located in the heart of Western Canada’s forests. Students develop knowledge and skills through lectures, lab work, and extensive outdoor fieldwork. Outdoor labs take place throughout the year, as well as during special fall and spring field schools. The program is nationally accredited through the Canadian Technology Accreditation Board, enabling graduates to qualify as B.C. Registered Forest Technologist. Students and graduates will be prepared for work in harvesting, reforestation, silviculture, engineering, protection, research, and forest resource management. Many graduates successfully own and operate their own forestry businesses. CNC’s forestry graduates fill key leadership positions in the forest industry, First Nations, government, and consulting firms. Forest Renewal Co-op is a grass roots organization. Hinton Training Centre (HTC), which is operated by Sustainable Resource Development (SRD), offers a wide range of training, education and research related to Alberta’s sustainable resources. The Centre also possesses unique training facilities, which it makes available to both government and its stakeholders.

  • Forest and Lands Management Training: New courses are continually being developed at HTC, ensuring provincial employees have the knowledge and skills needed to manage Alberta’s lands and forests sustainably.
  • Wildfire Management Training: A staff of master instructors delivers more than 45 wildfire courses annually, from basic fire suppression, to advanced planning and management training.

Malaspina University-College, Forest Resources Technology Program - a two-year diploma program. Graduates have been very successful in obtaining employment in the Forest Sector throughout coastal British Columbia as well as the interior of the province. The program of studies emphasizes field work and prepares students to fill a myriad of various job functions upon graduation.

Malaspina University-College, Forestry Extension Program - provides training and education in many facets of Natural Resources Management. We offer a variety of short courses, training programs, workshops and conferences to the professional, technical and forest worker audiences, primarily in the Forest Sector but also in related Natural Resources fields.

Maritime College of Forest Technology- To get a great education in Forestry, you need look no further than the Maritime College of Forest Technology. It is recognized by the forest industry as one of the leading forestry educational programs. In 2003 we changed our intensive one-year (12 month) program to a two-year program (September to April semesters) plus a summer work practicum. This change allows students more time for study, completing field exercises as well as a more balanced personal and social life.

Northern Alberta Institute of Technology - This program is designed to produce technologists capable of carrying out the delivery of central core forestry practices. Graduates might typically find themselves supervising or carrying out field operations involving timber inventory, protection, harvesting or reforestation, engineering and GIS.

Northern College, School of Natural Resources - We are currently offering the Natural Resource Technician program (2 years) that includes a blend of fish and wildlife, forestry and environment-related courses. Our advisory committee for the program includes the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, local First Nations, forest industry, ecotourism operators, private consultants, and Parks Ontario.

Northern Lake College - The Forestry Technician Program is designed to provide the skills needed to obtain a wide variety of forestry jobs. We offer a one-year forest technician program with a combined 4 month Woodland Equipment operator program certificate. We offer courses that are government certified, national certified and WOLF Woodland Operator Learning Foundation endorsed.

Northern Lights College - Forest Resources Technology Program Objective: To develop skilled, educated, field ready natural resources technicians who have the desire to participate in the sustainable management of Canada’s forest resources. Description: The Forest Resources Technology program is delivered on the Chetwynd campus, located in the forests of the eastern rocky mountains. Graduates will meet standards by the Canadian Council of Technicians and Technologists and be eligible for registration with the Association of BC Forest Professionals. Program Length: 2 years. Method of Delivery: Combination of short intensive “modules” and weekly classes. Heavy emphasis on hands on training in field and laboratory setting with an emphasis on experiential learning.

Okanagan College - The ArcInfo GIS Certificate is an accredited 20 week program designed to take students with little or no previous GIS knowledge to an advanced level of competence using industry standard ArcInfo. This program provides students with all the skills required to enter the rapidly expanding job market in the field of Geographical Information Systems.

Portage College - The Forest Technician program is a one-year certificate program designed to prepare personnel in the practical and technical skills needed to work in the forest industry. Forest Technicians perform technical fieldwork relating to forest management, forest harvesting, silviculture and forest protection.

Selkirk College - Forestry Technology Diploma Program. Forestry in British Columbia is the province's most important single industry. Forestry requires a more scientific and complex approach, and this program at Selkirk College is designed to train people to meet this requirement. The objective of the program is to graduate forest technologists who have the skills and competencies to be immediately employable.

Selkirk Management Services offers various levels of forestry and other natural resource training in a variety of locations throughout the province of BC.

Saskatchewan Institute of Applied Science and Technology - Natural Resource Technology Programs offers a 2-year diploma program in Forest Ecosystem Technology. Integrated Resource Management, Resource and Environmental Law, and Geographic Information Science programs are also offered.

Sir Sandford Fleming College - The School of Natural Resources: A variety of natural resources courses and related subjects are offered part-time at Fleming. Whether you are looking for training for employment in the field, an opportunity to update your skills or are simply interested in nature and our relationship with it, we have courses that will interest you. When completed successfully, many of these courses will earn you widely-recognized certifications or fill government requirements for competency, knowledge-base and safety standards.
