Association des Biologistes du
Québec is a professional organization that was founded in 1973 with
the following objectives: to bring together biologists in Quebec; to provide a
forum for members to express themselves on biological issues; to ensure the
distribution of scientific information to members; to promote research and the
adequate teaching of biology; and to promote biological interests in general.
Association of Professional Biologists of British
Columbia is a community of professionals dedicated to supporting the
College of Applied Biology and its members. It is established under the Society
Act as a non profit organization. Membership requires that you first be a
member in good standing of the College of Applied Biology.
Canadian Society of Environmental
Biologists is a non-profit registered society, whose primary focus is to
further the conservation and prudent management of Canada's natural resources
based on sound ecological principles.
College of Alberta Professional Forest
Technologists Our mission statement succinctly describes our purpose: "the
College of Alberta Professional Forest Technologists will promote the
professional management of all forested land in the province of
Alberta"
College of Alberta Professional
Foresters The College of Alberta Professional Foresters has over 650
members (March 2005) who believe in ensuring the competent practise of forestry
in Alberta through the regulation of registered practitioners and their
conduct. The College's mission is to serve society by regulating, enhancing and
providing leadership in the practice of the profession of forestry in the best
interests of the public.

The
Association of BC Forest
Professionals (formerly the Association of BC Professional Foresters) is
responsible for registering and regulating British Columbias professional
foresters and forest technologists. In BC, the practice of professional
forestry has been regulated since 1947 when foresters first agreed to help
protect the publics interest in the provinces forests in return for
the exclusive right to practice forestry. Today, the ABCFP is the largest
professional forestry association in Canada and the first to include forest
technologists.
Association of Registered Professional Foresters
of New Brunswick was founded in 1937. Members are bound by a code of ethics
and are involved in national standards, policy development, and briefs to
government, industry and university.
The
Association of Saskatchewan Forestry
Professionals is responsible for Registered Professional Foresters (RPF)
and Registered Professional Forest Technologists (RPFT) in the province. The
purpose of the Association is to establish and maintain high standards for
those practicing the profession of forestry in Saskatchewan.
British
Columbia Institute of Agrologists is the provincial organization authorized
under the Agrologists Act, a British Columbia statute, to govern the
professional conduct of its members, in support of the public interest. Persons
who hold themselves out to be an agrologist must be duly registered with BCIA
under the Act.
College of Applied Biology: British Columbia
- Professional Biologists in B.C. are governed by the College of Applied
Biology. The College of Applied Biology Act is the first legislation of its
kind in North America, and is the first time applied biologists have been
granted full professional status through self governing legislation.

Consulting Foresters of B.C. - CFBC is a
non-profit society representing the business interests of forestry consultants

Entomological Society of Canada represents
hundreds of entomologists from all parts of Canada and around the world. The
Society is a dynamic force in promoting research, disseminating knowledge of
insects, and encouraging the continued participation of all students and
lovers of Entomology .
International Association for
Landscape Ecology (IALE) aims to develop landscape ecology as a scientific
basis for analysis, planning and management of the landscapes of the world.
IALE advances international co-operation and interdisciplinary synergism within
the field, through scientific, scholarly, educational and communication
activities.

International Forestry Students Association
(IFSA) is an association of local and national organizations of university
level forestry students. The goal of IFSA is to bring together forestry
students from all over the world and represent these students at a global
level. Founded in 1990, IFSA now has about 45 members from over 30 countries.
The International Society of
Tropical Foresters, Inc. (ISTF) is a non-profit organization, and was first
organized in 1950. The main objective of the organization is the transfer of
technology and science to those concerned with the management, protection and
wise use of tropical forests. All individuals and organizations interested in
tropical forests and natural resources are eligible for membership.
Manitoba Association of Plant Biologists
(MAPB) was formed in 1998 out of concern over a lack of emphasis on plant
biology in Manitoba. MAPB works to encourage the hiring of staff with sound
botanical training at universities, in government departments and in consulting
companies.
New Brunswick Forest Technician
Association (NBFTA) The NBFTA is a voluntary organisation and is the legal
certifying body of Forest Technicians and Technologists in New Brunswick,
Canada. Certified members must successfully pass an exam and participate in the
Canadian Institute of Forestry's (CIF) Continuing Forestry Education (CFE)
Program. Once obtained, a certified member can use the title Certified Forest
Technician/Technologist (CFT) with his/her name. Members are bound by a strict
code of ethics and require a minimum of 36 months experience as a
Forest-Technician/Technologist to qualify to write the certification exam.
Ontario Professional Foresters
Association was established by Bill 10 of the 25th Ontario Legislature in
1957. OBJECTIVES: The objectives of the Ontario Professional Foresters
Association (OPFA) are to promote and increase the knowledge, skill and
proficiency of its members in all things related to forestry and to regulate
the practice of professional forestry among its members.

SFCW aims at enhancing the
understanding of forest certification, particuarly regarding sustainable forest
management, international forest policy, trade in forest products and consumer
choice. SFCW's web site includes a restricted area featuring a comprehensive
and up to date set of web based and other resources on forest certification and
related topics.
The Silva Forest Foundation, (SFF), is a
nonprofit charitable organization based in the West Kootenay of British
Columbia, Canada. The board and staff of the SFF are scientists and activists
with decades of experience in working with rural communities to develop diverse
forest uses which protect, maintain and restore forests.
The Society of American Foresters (SAF) is
the national scientific and educational organization representing the forestry
profession in the United States. Founded in 1900 by Gifford Pinchot, it is the
largest professional society for foresters in the world. The mission of the
Society of American Foresters is to advance the science, education, technology,
and practice of forestry; to enhance the competency of its members; to
establish professional excellence; and, to use the knowledge, skills, and
conservation ethic of the profession to ensure the continued health and use of
forest ecosystems and the present and future availability of forest resources
to benefit society.
Southern Interior Timber Cruisers
Association is made up of a variety of members from all aspects of forestry
- including industry, consulting firms and government. SITCA's goals are to: *
Promote the viewpoints of its membership to the Government and Industry. *
Promote communication between members. * Promote continuing education and
training for its members. * Promote high standards in cruising.
Western Silvicultural Contractors' Association -
Since 1984 the WSCA has represented the silvicultural contracting industry to
both federal and provincial governments on forest policy, industry regulation,
and health and safety. Our members include treeplanting, stand tending,
wildfire fighting, site preparation and ecosystem restoration
