Position Mandate

The Operations Manager will be required to evaluate the performance and efficiencies of the 250K square foot, 23 acre Brampton facility. Reporting in to the General Manager and managing a team of 25 full-time operations employees and various temporary employees, the Operations Manager will conceptualize and deliver short- and long-term goals and objectives for the facility and develop supporting production strategies with the objective of improving reliability, delivery of product, and quality, as well as overall employee performance and plant culture. Within the first year the Operations Manager will also lay out the plan for a new facility and project manage a move to a new site, most likely slightly west of the current location.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will have an optimum combination of the following:

  • 3-5+ years of progressive operations management experience gained within leading manufacturing or distribution environments;
  • A strong track record of implementing key strategic manufacturing initiatives resulting in improved productivity and efficiencies;
  • Previous operations management experience gained within the building materials industry is ideal;
  • Proven track record that safety is a key priority;
  • Knowledge of Department of Transport regulations;
  • Total Quality and team orientation with a 'can do' attitude;
  • Highly capable of motivating, developing and rallying a team;
  • Highly visible, comfortable on the plant floor, effective interfacing at all levels of the organization;
  • Business acumen, capable of contributing within the executive team for longer term strategic planning;
  • Change management experience, able to conceive, develop and implement a long term manufacturing vision;
  • Experience in a unionized environment with exposure to the negotiation process;
  • Demonstrated the potential to take on additional responsibilities over time; for succession planning purposes, is willing and able to position themselves as having general management potential.
