Resource Technician

B.A. Blackwell and Associates Ltd., a North Vancouver based, integrated forestry consulting firm currently has an opening for a Resource Technician. B.A. Blackwell and Associates Ltd. was formed in 1989 and provides consulting services to a wide variety of clients by combining expertise in vegetation and forest management, forest and fire ecology, urban forestry, forest engineering, silviculture and research.

Due to expanding opportunities and the need to maintain timely and quality service, we are looking to increase our forest and environmental management capacity and are currently seeking a highly motivated, results oriented resource technician to join our team. As a key member of our group, the selected individual will report to one of our Senior Professionals.

The ideal candidate will have:

• A strong work ethic and a passion for forest and environmental management;
• An ability to work within our existing team, while bringing new experience and ideas;
• Experience in block and road layout, stream classification and traversing;
• Experience in field sampling of vegetation and soils;
• Experience related to ecological restoration and or forest ecology;
• Computer experience (e.g. Access, WORD, Powerpoint, Excel, Corel Draw, ArcGIS);
• Forestry field experience related to environmental science and/or forest management; and,
• Danger Tree assessor certification.

Desired Qualifications
The completion of a technical diploma in Forestry or Environmental Sciences or a related program with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience and a valid BC Driver's Licence.

The position requires extensive fieldwork with up to 75 nights a year away from home and exposure to all types of weather conditions at work sites that may be remote. The position is based in North Vancouver.
