Job
Description
This position is responsible for
implementing and managing Safety, Industrial Health and Fire Prevention
services, programs and initiatives for clients at our facility in Dawson Creek.
The successful candidate will ensure Safety, Industrial Health and Fire
Prevention objectives are met and deployments are leveraged effectively and
consistently. Functions are office and plant based, and include:
- Provide consultation and services
to plant leadership regarding Safety, Industrial Health, and Fire Prevention
concerns, operations, and compliance issues
- Communicate goals and objectives
of Safety Management System
- Coordinate activities of Site
Central Safety Committee Implement Safety, Industrial Health, and Fire
Prevention policies and procedures
- Review and analyze the
effectiveness of current safety, industrial health and fire prevention
programs; recommend improvements to policies and procedures.
- Develop, coordinate, and
facilitate education and training on Safety, Industrial Health, and Fire
Prevention issues at the plant
- Manage Fire Prevention Plans and
Contractor Safety processes
- Coordinate and facilitate
incident investigation and reporting process, hazard identification,
elimination and reduction, employee industrial health monitoring and testing
Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of Provincial and
local industrial health, safety, and fire prevention rules, regulations, and
related strategies
- Working knowledge of safety
policies and procedures and fire prevention programs
- Supervisory and management skills
- Ability to develop, coordinate
and deliver safety education and training
- Ability to lead and motivate
individuals and teams to achieve program and project outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to compile
and analyze basic data, develop metrics, and perform cost benefit analysis
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
in Safety and Health or related field preferred 3-5 years previous Safety and
Industrial Health experience preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Or any equivalent combination of
education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key
responsibilities of this position
